Patrick James Meyer was born September 14, 1936, on a farm at Red Rock Ridge, Cottonwood County, Minnesota, to Arthur W. and Martha (Hendrickson) Meyer.  At the age of nine he moved with his family to Northfield.  After graduating from Northfield High School in 1954, Pat began working with his Uncle John as an over-the-road trucker.  He joined the National Guard and served from 1955-1963.  On February 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Barbara McFadden at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield.  After marriage they made their home in Northfield for a year before purchasing their home in Dundas.  Pat worked for Jet-O-Matic (now Apache) in Minneapolis for several years and in 1970, he began working at Malt-O-Meal in Northfield.  He remained with Malt-O-Meal until retiring as distribution center supervisor in 1999.

Pat was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Faribault and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield.  He was a longtime volunteer fireman for the Dundas Fire Department.  As a young man he was a golden gloves boxer and softball catcher.  Pat also loved traveling with Barb.  They had an amazing marriage and were partners in everything they did.  Pat was selfless, strong and always willing to put others first.  His wife and family were of greatest importance and he will be truly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barb; 3 children and their spouses: Cheryl and Corey Jonas of Northfield, Lance and Theresa of Faribault, Melanie and Troy Russell of Mankato; 9 grandchildren: Muranda and Whitney Weed, McKenzie and Ryan Jonas, Ashley, Patrick and Parker Meyer, Jake and Maija Russell; 4 sisters: Arvilla Neff of Farmington, Romona (Richard) Fredrickson of Northfield, Cynthia (Bernard) Caron of Faribault, Pamela (Bill) Kirkpatrick of Faribault; his brother, John (Karen) Meyer of Cannon City; his sisters-in-law, Marlene Meyer of Iowa, Pat Vangsness of Faribault, Sheila Roehrick of Northfield; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers David and Roger, and his brother-in-law Hugh McFadden.

Pat passed away at his home in Dundas with his wife and children by his side on Wednesday morning, January 25, 2012, at the age of 75.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, January 30, 2012, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Faribault with Rev. Steve Delzer officiating.  Eulogist will be Muranda Weed. Music will be provided by DeWayne Wee.  Interment will be in Groveland Cemetery, Dundas.  Casket bearers will be Lance Meyer, Patrick Meyer, Troy Russell, Jake Russell, Corey Jonas, Tim Meyer and John Meyer.  Honorary pall bearers are Parker Meyer, Ashley Meyer, Maija Russell, McKenzie Jonas, Ryan Jonas and Whitney Weed.  Visitation will be 2-5PM Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield.  Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
