Martin Koehler
Martin Scott Koehler was born January 6, 1958, in Winona, Minnesota to Jim and Ardy Koehler. He was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Winona and as an infant moved with his family to West Concord. In 1963, they moved to Northfield and Marty was confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1976, and attended Winona State University. He moved to the Twin Cities where he continued his education in computer science and began working various jobs. He married Dori Suchla on September 24, 1994, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia, Wisconsin. After marriage they continued to make their home in the Twin Cities until moving to Miltona in 2003. Marty was working for Alex Brick and Stone in Alexandria until his health failed. He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, golfing and 4-wheeling.
Survivors include his wife, Dori; his parents, Jim and Ardy Koehler of Northfield; and his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Naomi Koehler of Santa Barbara, California; his niece, Rachel; his nephew, Max; aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
Marty passed away Tuesday morning, January 5, 2010, at his home in Miltona, Minnesota, following a lengthy illness. He was 51.
Visitation will begin at 1PM on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield, with a memorial time at 2:30PM. Revs. Craig Ellingboe and Paul Graham will officiate. The memorial time will be followed by a pizza party in the fellowship hall in honor of Marty. There will be additional visitation time from 5-7PM on Monday, January 11, 2010, at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
