Lillian Horejsi Tupy was born March 10, 1918, on the family farm near Lonsdale, Minnesota, to Frank and Anna (Kadrlik) Horejsi. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and attended country school. She married Benjamin Tupy on November 17, 1937, at Immaculate Conception. After marriage they farmed near Lonsdale until moving to Northfield in 1945. Lillian worked as a waitress and in 1953, began clerking at the Red Owl Grocery Store. She worked at several grocery stores in town over the years. Ben passed away in 1970, and Lillian continued working until retiring from Petricka’s bakery in 1988. She has been a resident of Three Links since 2007.

Lillian was a member of the Church of St. Dominic. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening and crocheting - making numerous afghans for her family. She was caring and independent, and her family was of greatest importance to her.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rosanne and William Nohava of Northfield; 4 grandchildren and their spouses: Geri and Tim Howie of Dennison, Brian and Kim Nohava of St. Mary’s, Kansas, Becky and Jim Yanta of Burnsville, Sandy and Brian Boudreau of Northfield; 17 great-grandchildren: Katherine and Genevieve Howie, Micaela, Elizabeth, Joseph, Anthony, Bernadette and William Nohava, Thomas, Mary Frances, Henry, Benedict, Greta and Bridget Yanta, Lynsey, Hannah and Bruce Boudreau; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 4 sisters: Anna David, Emma Marek, Adeline Hanek and Caroline Moravec; and 4 brothers: John in infancy, William, George and Edward Horejsi.

Lillian passed away Thursday afternoon, December 10, 2009, at the Three Links Care Center, at the age of 91.

A Requiem High Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at St. Anne’s Chapel in White Bear Lake with Fr. Thomas Mroczka officiating. Interment will be 12 Noon at Calvary Cemetery, Northfield. Casket bearers will be Tim Howie, Jim Yanta, Brian Boudreau and Thomas Yanta. Visitation will be 4-7PM Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield.
