Gregory C. Schultz, age 50, of Northfield, passed away suddenly on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, while downhill skiing with his children at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado.

He was born July 6, 1961, in Minneapolis to Florence and the late Roger Schultz. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Bloomington, Minn. in 1979. He earned his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa in 1987. He married Kelly Zwagerman on Jan. 3, 1987, in Ames, Iowa; and they divorced in 2007. They moved to Northfield, Minn. in 1988, and that is where they raised their three children; Quin, Cooper and Liesl Schultz.

Greg worked in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry for the majority of his career. Along with being both a service technician and salesperson for companies, he was also the owner of several businesses. Much of his work occurred in the Twin Cities area, but he also traveled throughout his career.

Greg enjoyed a variety of activities, especially football in high school; and water skiing, downhill skiing and racing, and racquetball as an adult. He coached several youth baseball teams, and he was a ski coach at Welch Village. He was a supportive and enthusiastic spectator at his children’s numerous sports activities. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family and an occasional fishing trip with his brother.

He taught Sunday school when his children were younger. Greg remained connected to the Catholic Church throughout his life. Greg frequently donated blood, and he was an organ donor when he died.

Survivors include his children Quin, Cooper and Liesl of Northfield; his mother, Florence Schultz of Burnsville; his sister, Beth Reisdorph of Prior Lake; and his brother, Jeff (Donna) of Coldwater, Michigan. He is survived by one niece, Dustin Reisdorph of Prior Lake; and three nephews; Max Reisdorph of Prior Lake, and Zachary and Nicholas Schultz of Coldwater, Michigan. Greg is survived by his fiancé Linda Wilkes of Chanhassan and her children Laura (Andy), Greg, Dan, Kate (Dylan), and grandson Townes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Garden in Crystal. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral.

Arrangements are with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.

You will be missed

Friend

As you leave today

On another life journey

We want you to know

How much you will be missed

We want you to know

How much being your friend

And you being ours

Has meant to us

And the friendship

Will continue

And span the test

Of distance and time

So we do not say goodbye

For that implies an end

Instead we say

Until we meet again

We do not know

When that might be

Maybe not tomorrow

But it will be soon

So until we see you again

Know you are not forgotten

For we carry you with us

Forever in our hearts

-Harley D. Reed, Jr.

From the entire Reed family (Harley, Gerry, Vanessa, and Simone) with our deepest sympathies.
