Alice Wentz
Alice Wentz passed away Tuesday evening, December 1, 2009, at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, at the age of 91.
Alice Dorothy Peterson Wentz was born April 4, 1918, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Olaf and Edith (Nelson) Peterson. She was raised in the MacAlaster/Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul and graduated from the University of Minnesota High School in 1936. During WWII she worked at Northwest Airlines and in the 1950's began working as a tailor for Albrecht’s Fur Company, remaining with them until 1971. In June 1971, she married Russell Wentz. After marriage Alice and Russell traveled often, something they enjoyed greatly. Following Russell’s death in 1979, Alice remained in St. Paul and for many more years traveled to various parts of the world. Alice was a lifelong resident of St. Paul, moving to Millstream Commons in Northfield in September 2007. In May of this year she moved to the Three Links Care Center. Alice enjoyed travel, sewing and playing Bridge - for over 60 years she belonged to the same Bridge club in St. Paul. She was feisty, had a good sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with people.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Rachel Peterson of Northfield; her nephew, Brian (Karen) Peterson of St. Paul; her niece Maria (Ken Boyer) Peterson of Belmont, California; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell and her brothers Kenneth and Carl.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.
